The main purpose of the facility is to collect, store, research and share materials related to the life and work of Czechowicz. The collection includes originals of literary works, letters to friends and family, photographs and documents of the poet, excerpts from his journal, school reports, a graduation diploma from the Institute of Special Education in Warsaw, materials related to Czechowicz’s activity in the Lublin Writers’ Union and about 50 volumes from private book collection. Most of them are works dedicated to the poet by their authors. So far, we have managed to collect most of the scattered handwritten legacy of the author of the Poem about the City of Lublin.
In addition, the Museum has extensive materials on other writers associated with the Lublin region: Franciszka Arnsztajnowa, Konrad Bielski, Wacław Gralewski, Kazimierz Andrzej Jaworski, Antoni Madej, Wacław Mrozowski, Józef Nikodem Kłosowski, Józef Łobodowski, Stanisław Bojarczuk, Jan Pock, Anna Kamieńska. The museum collections also include letters and manuscripts of poetry by outstanding Polish authors such as: Czesław Miłosz, Zbigniew Herbert, Jerzy Zagórski, Julian Tuwim, Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński. Also noteworthy is the extensive photographic documentation of Lublin’s literary life, a rich collection of about ten thousand volumes, a collection of archival journals, recordings, souvenirs and special prints.
