PROMOTION of “RARE” VOLUME by JOANNA WRÓBEL

We invite You to the Józef Czechowicz Museum for the premiere of the poetry book “rare” by Joanna Wróbel, published by the National Museum in Lublin. Consisting of 34 texts, the volume is the fruit of the “REFLEKTOR” competition for a debut poetry volume, the results of which were announced in June this year. The meeting will take place on December 9, 2023 at 5 p.m. in Lublin at 3 Złota Street .

The introduction word will be spoken by Beata Stepaniuk-Kuśmierzak – Deputy Mayor of Lublin for Culture, Sports and Participation, Plenipotentiary of the Mayor of Lublin for European Youth Capital 2023.

The discussion will be attended by:

Joanna Wróbel (b. 1994) (the author of the volume, graphic design and typesetting) – professionally breaks and frames other people’s texts (graphically). She writes and creates drawing and word jokes. Pro bono she also corrects commas for the world. Participant of the workshop activities of the Workroom carried out within the framework of the Literary Bureau’s TransPort Literary Festival in Kolobrzeg (2022). Awarded of the audience prize in the Jacek Bierezin National Poetry Contest (2022). Winner of the competition for a debut poetry volume “Reflektor Prize” (2023). She has published in “KONTENT,” “Helicopter,” “Literary Oxygen,” “Plant,” “Trytytka” and on przekrój.pl. She lives in Cracow and constantly has a cat.

Malgorzata Lebda (the juror of the competition, editor of the volume) – writer, poet, photographer, doctor of humanities and university lecturer, winner of the Konstanty Ildefons Galczynski Orpheus Poetry Award, the Gdynia Literary Award and the Wislawa Szymborska Poetry Award, author of numerous volumes of poetry and her debut novel “Greedy”.

Jakub Skurtys (juror of the competition) – critic and literary historian; PhD in literary studies; works at the Faculty of Philology, University of Warsaw; author of books on recent poetry “Common Denominator” (2020) and “Poem… and the rest” (2021).

The author of the graphic design is Joanna Wróbel.

The competition was organized with the support of the City of Lublin as part of the European Youth Capital Lublin 2023.
