Przęślik, i.e. a round object that was used to load the spindle and give the thread a better spin during spinning, was found in the area of the early medieval stronghold in Czermno - mentioned in written sources of Czerwień, one of the fortified strongholds of the territory of the Grody Czerwieńskie.The described spindle was made of pink Ovrucz slate, i.e. a rock from Ukraine (near the town of Ovrucz - hence its name). It is one of the collection of twenty-one spindles forged from the same material, differing in construction details. It has the smallest diameter of all the specimens, a relatively large opening, and a slightly irregular triangular outline. It can be assumed that it could not fulfill its basic function, that is, be used for spinning. Probably its decorative qualities were used (it served as a pendant) or it was a kind of means of payment in barter trade.Stone spindles from Czermno, stored for several decades in the collection of the National Museum in Lublin, are imported from the territory of Ruthenia to the territory of the Piast state. They are most numerous in the eastern border areas. The phenomenon of the spread of these items took place from the mid-10th to the end of the 13th century.
